Twin Beam Engine Cross-Compound, Eight Pillar A magnificent mid 19th century model reputedly made by Neilson & Co of Glasgow for the Great Exhibition of 1851. This very large miniature engine is 66" long, 34" wide, over 48" high and weighs approximately 1.25 tonnes. The cylinders measure 3" and 4" bore x 5" stroke. It was extensively restored some 10 years ago by the British Engineerium to the highest standards and is now offered, for the first time, for sale on the open market. Horizontal Mill Engine Single Cylinder, CORLISS Valve Gear An exceptionally high quality, large scale 19th century mill engine with Corliss valve gear. Based on a Pollitt & Wigzell design and fitted with Lumb patent governor, this engine has a 3 1/2" x 9" cylinder, 30" diameter flywheel and is 90" long x 28" wide. The extended piston rod drives an inline air pump and the whole is in magnificent working order, built and maintained to the very highest museum standards. It is now offered for sale and represents a rare opportunity to aquire an unusually large scale miniature engine of such quality. Mounted on a portable display trolley. |

Beam Engine Single Cylinder Inverted Vertical A very well made Victorian miniature beam engine with Watt parallel motion and 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" cylinder, measuring 16" long x 20" High. Central column etched with makers names James McBean and Ian Ross Matheson, 1891. Water pumping engine on columned cast iron frame with gilded urn detailing. This rare find, obviously meant for display purposes, is very nicely detailed and some of the original gilding remains. Flywheel, governor and other parts missing, and needs some sensitive restoration. Generally in nice, untouched condition. |
